Harrisburg Senators News Release

For the third time this season the Harrisburg Senators failed in their quest for a fourth consecutive win this time with a 6-4 loss to Altoona on Thursday night. Even with the loss the Senators still had a successful road trip, winning four of the six games they played at Trenton and Altoona.

Thursday night the game was delayed 1:16 and when it started, Altoona starter Brandon Cumpton had his A-game. The Sens had just a one-out single until the fifth inning when they broke through with a run trimming the Altoona lead to 4-1. Chris Rahl singled, moved to third on a double and scored on a ground out.

Altoona plated three in the third and one in the fourth off of Senators' starting pitcher and the loser Thursday night Rob Gilliam.

Trailing 6-1 into the eighth, the Sens scored a run trimming the lead to 6-2 and then in the ninth they put a mild scare into the Curve. Tim Pahuta doubled which was followed by an RBI single by Chris Rahl making the score 6-3. Rahl stole second and move to third on an error and was still there when Jim Negrych walked. After an out, Chris McConnell singled to right driving in Rahl and bringing the tying run to the plate in the person of Jesus Valdez. But Valdez struck out and Eury Perez grounded out to end the ballgame.

Tim Pahuta and Chris Rahl both had two hits in the loss.

The Senators open a three-game series at home Friday night against the Bowie Baysox. LH Mike Ballard takes the hill for the Sens against RH Timothy Bascom for Bowie. Game time is at 7:00 p.m. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website and iHeart Radio and on your iPod or iPad beginning at 6:10 p.m.
