Senators Re-Sign Forward Kaspars Daugavins to a One-Year Contract

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 3, 2011) - The Ottawa Senators announced today the club has re-signed forward Kaspars Daugavins to a one-year, two-way contract.

Daugavins, 23, spent the entire 2010-11 season with the Senators' American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators. In 73 games with Binghamton, he scored 19 goals and added 35 assists while recording 34 penalty minutes. He played in played in each of the B-Sens' 23 post-season contests, finishing in a tie for sixth in team post-season scoring with 20 points, including 10 goals, while helping Binghamton capture its first Calder Cup.

The native of Riga, Latvia, was held scoreless in his one career National Hockey League game with Ottawa. In 170 career AHL contests with the B-Sens, he has registered 42 goals and 63 assists, while adding 59 penalty minutes.

Daugavins has represented his native Lavia at the IIHF World Hockey Championship on four occasions and also at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

Daugavins was Ottawa's second third-round pick (91st overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
