Binghamton Senators News Release
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Calder Cup champion Binghamton Senators announced today that they have renewed their radio broadcast agreement with Clear Channel Binghamton with game night broadcasts moving to the FM side of the dial and airing on "Binghamton's Classic Hits" BIG 107.5 (WBBI-FM). The two-year agreement covers the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 seasons.
All 76 regular season contests along with every post-season game will air on BIG 107.5, with each game broadcast preceded by the 30-minute pre-game show Countdown to Faceoff and followed by Sens Overtime, a complete wrap-up of that night's contest including post-game interviews, highlights, stats, three stars and out-of-town scores.
Clear Channel Binghamton properties 680-AM WINR and 1430-AM WENE (The Team) had previously been the home to B-Sens game action for eight of the club's first nine seasons in the Southern Tier, including last year's run to the Calder Cup championship.
"Clear Channel is proud to continue our partnership with the Binghamton Senators," said Jim Free, Operations manager - Clear Channel Binghamton. "After last spring's amazing playoff run to the city's first ever hockey championship, we can't wait for this season to start. We were thrilled to bring all the play-by-play action home to the fans and look forward to once again being the radio home of the AHL champs."
Director of Broadcasting Grady Whittenburg returns for his ninth season as the voice of the Senators and his 29th overall in sports broadcasting. Whittenburg was recently honored by the American Hockey League when he was named as the 2011 James H. Ellery Award winner in recognition of outstanding media coverage in the radio category. In addition to his play-by-play duties, Whittenburg will again produce "Sens Game Day", a preview of every Senators game that will air at 3:15 p.m. each game day on 1430 The Team. "Sens Rewind", a 60-second highlight montage, will air each morning following Senators action at 7:45 a.m. on 92.5 KGB-FM. Along with BIG 107.5, both 1430 The Team and 92.5 KGB-FM are part of the six-station Clear Channel radio group in the Binghamton market.
Clear Channel also affords fans outside the Binghamton listening area to access broadcasts on-line at www.big1075.com and www.1430theteam.com. Additionally, fans can download the iHeartRadio application to any smart phone and listen to B-Sens action anywhere within the United States. For the free download, go on-line to www.iheartradio.com.
