Charleston Dirty Birds News Release
CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The West Virginia Power, the Class A South Atlantic League affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, is proud to announce a title sponsorship with Segra for the 2019 South Atlantic League All-Star Game and its surrounding events. Per this agreement, Segra will sponsor the game, Home Run Derby, the Power's premium item All-Star Game giveaway and the postgame fireworks.
"We are extremely excited to be partnering with Segra for this year's All-Star festivities. They will be instrumental in enhancing the numerous events we have planned for everyone in attendance," said Power General Manager Jeremy Taylor. "With Segra's contributions this season, we are confident that we can deliver one of the most unique, innovative and memorable All-Star weeks the South Atlantic League has ever experienced."
Tickets for the South Atlantic League All-Star Game, Home Run Derby and other exclusive experiences will go on sale April 2 at 10 a.m.
"Segra is proud to be a part of the 2019 SAL All-Star Game and to support the West Virginia Power with this signature event," said Segra Vice President of Marketing James Nester. "We look forward to further establishing our brand with the All-Star Game, supporting minor league baseball here and across our footprint, and to showcasing the City of Charleston and its wonderful people to players and fans alike."
Charleston Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin has also designated the City of Charleston as a co-sponsor for the All-Star festivities that will bring baseball players, their families and friends, team and league officials, Major League scouts and baseball fans to Charleston in mid-June.
"The City of Charleston is proud to be the host city for the 2019 All-Star Week festivities," said Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin. "We look forward to welcoming teams, fans and baseball officials to our Capital City for the exciting line-up of events the West Virginia Power has in store for folks- including some FestivALL fun!"
All-Star Week begins Monday, June 17, with an assortment of excursions available to the visiting teams and their guests. On Monday evening, Haddad Riverfront Park will host a Fan Fest autograph session with the South Atlantic League All-Stars prior to the FestivALL-STAR Concert from the Schoenbaum Stage.
The concert is part of FestivALL Charleston, which is celebrating its 15th season, just like the Power. Details of the FestivALL-STAR Concert will be announced in the coming weeks.
The SAL All-Star Game Luncheon, presented by Ticket Return and co-sponsored by the City of Charleston, kicks off Tuesday's showcase events, as the South Atlantic League inducts its newest members into the Hall of Fame.
The attention shifts to the diamond at 5 p.m., as the gates open for our official pregame Tailgate Party. Fans will be treated to music and drink specials at the Budweiser Dugout Bar, as well as a slew of various performers, brought in by GetGoWV, while the players get set for the 2019 Home Run Derby. At 6 p.m., the best bats in the league will take the field and put on a fireworks-like display of talent, mashing baseballs as far as they can to claim this year's Home Run Derby title. Last time the SAL Midsummer Classic was in Charleston, Power outfielder Calvin Anderson earned the crown.
The All-Star Game is set for a 7:35 p.m. first pitch, with David Kahn and Kyle Youmans bringing you all the action on The Jock 1300 and 1340 AM, as well as online at wvpower.com and via the TuneIn Radio App and MiLB First Pitch App. After the final out, fans can enjoy the best pyrotechnics display the Kanawha Valley has to offer with a dazzling postgame fireworks show.
