Biloxi Shuckers News Release
MONTGOMERY, AL - The Biloxi Shuckers (36-38, 2-5 2nd Half) took a brief lead but fell 7-4 to the Montgomery Biscuits (33-36, 5-2 2nd Half) on Monday night at Riverwalk Stadium.
The Biscuits scored first in the bottom of the second when they loaded the bases and pushed across on a run on a sacrifice fly. Biloxi responded with a solo homer to right by Thomas Dillard, his sixth of the year, tying the game at 1-1.
Montgomery went back in front in the home half of the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly, but Biloxi replied immediately in the top of the fifth. Terence Doston singled to left and stole second, and with two outs Noah Campbell doubled to the left-field gap, pulling the game level at 2-2. Joey Wiemer then hit a bouncing ball deep in the hole for a single and Campbell raced in to score on a throwing error by Greg Jones, putting the Shuckers up 3-2.
RHP Victor Castañeda (L, 1-3) came back for the bottom of the fifth and allowed a lead-off single. After a wild pitch, the runner scored on a single by Jones to tie the game, and Kameron Misner put the Biscuits in front for good on a two-run homer, his 11th of the season, making it 5-3 Montgomery.
Jakson Reetz greeted LHP Franklin Dacosta (H, 1) with a solo home run to left in the top of the sixth, his league-leading 20th of the year, bringing Biloxi within a run at 5-4. Dillard doubled off the wall in left to put the tying run in scoring position, but the Shuckers were unable to drive him home. In the bottom of the sixth, Montgomery scored two more runs, moving back in front 7-4. Biloxi loaded the bases in the top of the seventh but left them full and managed just a single over the final two frames.
