Second Ten-Goal Game Nets League Award

[ RIO RANCHO, N.M.]-The Scorpions have won the CHL's Performance of the Week award with their 10 goal output against Rio Grande Valley on December 15th. Votes were cast online through the league website over the past week and the Scorpions beat out performances by Bossier-Shreveport goalie, Ken Carroll and Corpus Christi 's backstop, Jason Tapp.

The Scorpions 10 goal output was the second time this season the team scored double digits. Franchise records toppled and the newest crop of Scorpions entered themselves in the 11 year old organizational record books.

New Mexico wasted no time in the game by scoring a franchise record seven first period goals. By the time the game was over the Scorpions also set a new franchise high with five power play goals.

Individually, players set some franchise and personal records of their own. Konrad Reeder finished with six assists, a new Scorpions record and just one off of the CHL high. Erik Johnson and Andrew Smale each scored three points in the game, career highs for both players.

The Scorpions will end the 2007 calendar year with games against Amarillo on December 28th and 29th at the Santa Ana Star Center. On the 28th Thunderstix will be given to the fans courtesy of Santa Ana Star Casino. The following night Chick-Fil-A will help the fever by giving away cowbells.
