Orlando SeaWolves News Release
Kansas City, MO - The Orlando SeaWolves, in their first game back playing in almost a month, ÃÂ played a close game in the first half with the Kansas City Comets, but a second-half to forget found the visiting SeaWolves on the wrong end of a 14-6 loss. Orlando now moves to 1-6 on the season.
"Kansas City's a very good team. They showed that tonight," Head Coach Tom Traxler said after the game. "We've got a lot to work on, but we've got to shake it off quick, because we've got a turnaround to take on Florida, who's one of the hottest teams in the league right now, and then get back to work on the training pitch."
After Kansas City opened up the scoring, Rodolfo Lopes scored his first MASL goal to tie things up at 1-1. Just two minutes later, the former Comet Odaine Sinclair forced a turnover and blasted a strike past Mark Saxby in goal to give Orlando the lead as the first quarter ended.
Kansas City would pull it back level to open the second quarter, but Rodrigo Kaufmann scored through Saxby's legs to give Orlando back the lead, 3-2. That would be the last time Orlando would lead in this game as the Comets would score two goals before halftime to take a 4-3 lead to the locker room.
The Comets would then go on to score two more to make it 6-3 before Orlando would pull one back through Daniel Jackson for his first MASL goal. However, Kansas City would keep their foot on the gas pedal, opening up an 11-4 lead before Luiz Mota finally broke the momentum.
Jeff Michaud would add his first MASL goal later in the game, but the Comets would run away with the game, winning 14-6 after it was said and done.
Orlando will now have a quick turnaround as they travel back home to take on the Florida Tropics in Lakeland on Sunday, with kickoff set for 3:05 pm. That game will be broadcast on masl.tv.
