Second-Half Hat Trick Downs RailHawks

Edmonton, CAN - The Carolina RailHawks (0-4-3, 4 pts.) travelled to Canada to face off against FC Edmonton (1-1-3, 4 pts.). The RailHawks lost 3-0 after a second-half hat trick from Shaun Saiko.

During the first half, the RailHawks were able to keep the ball on FC Edmonton's half but were unable to create clear scoring opportunities. The RailHawks came close to scoring with John Krause headed a corner kick by Nick Zimmerman but the shot went wide of the goal. Ray Burse made two impressive saves towards the end of the half to keep the match in a scoreless tie going into the break.

In the second half, FC Edmonton found the back of the net in the 55th minute when Saiko took a shot from 30 yards out that went over goalkeeper Burse. Just five minutes later Saiko again found the back of the net after bending a shot to the far post over a diving Burse. Saiko would earn his hat trick after scoring on a penalty kick following a foul in the box.

The RailHawks will next travel to Minnesota to face off against the Stars FC at 8:30 PM ET on Saturday, May 12th. The match will be shown live online at www.CarolinaRailHawks.com/live . The RailHawks will return to WakeMed Soccer Park on May 19th to face the Puerto Rico Islanders at 7:00 PM ET.
