The Webb Ellis Cup, named for the man who is credited for inventing Rugby in 1823, is the trophy presented to the winners of the Rugby World Cup. The sterling silver trophy with a 24-carat gold plating was made in 1906 and stands 38 cm (14 in) tall and weighs 4.5 kg (9.9 lbs).
