Erie SeaWolves News Release
The Erie SeaWolves are 10 games over .500 for the first time this season after a 3-2 win against the Bowie Baysox at UPMC Park on Thursday. The SeaWolves have won five consecutive games for the first time this year.
Bowie picked up a run in the first inning for the second straight day. Hudson Haskin led off with a single against Wilmer Flores. Cesar Prieto then doubled just fair of the third-base line to advance Haskin to third. Two batters later, Cody Roberts hit a soft ground ball to second. Wenceel Perez threw the ball home but it was to the wrong side of the plate, so Haskin came around to score.
Erie knotted the game 1-1 in the bottom of the first. Andre Lipcius went yard off of Ryan Watson for his seventh homer of the season.
The SeaWolves took its first lead of the game in the bottom of the fifth. Eric De La Rosa reached on a one-out single. Chris Rabago dinged one off the left-field fence for his first triple of the season to bring home De La Rosa. Gage Workman followed suit with an RBI single to give Erie a 3-1 lead.
Bowie cut the deficit to 3-2 in the sixth. Zach Watson lifted a solo blast off of Adam Wolf and homered for the second time in as many days.
Flores (3-1) earned the victory. He threw five innings of one-run ball, giving up four hits, no walks, and struck out seven. It was his first win since June 5 against Harrisburg.
Watson (4-2) received the loss. He allowed three runs across five frames.
Brendan White picked up his team-leading sixth save of the season. He worked around a walk to AJ Graffanino and a single to Haskin with one out in the ninth. It was his first save since June 4 against Harrisburg.
