Reading Falls to Binghamton in Ten

The Reading Fightin Phils dropped a hard fought battle 5-4 to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies in the 10th inning. Colton Eastman threw a quality start and Kevin Vicuna had his first home run of the season.

Reading put the first run of the game in the third as Vito Friscia drove in Vicuna.

Binghamton bounced back in the bottom half tying it up with a Carlos Cortes single.

In the fifth, the Ponies took a 3-1 lead off of Brett Baty's homer.

Kevin Vicuna chipped away at the lead with a solo shot to deep left in the sixth.

Reading got ahead in the seventh as Jonathan Guzman drove in both Jhailyn Ortiz and Aldrem Corredor. Reading was on top 4-3.

Again in the bottom half, Binghamton tied it up was Brandon McIlwain scored on a wild pitch.

The Rumble Ponies threatened to score in the ninth but Brian Marconi left the bases loaded as no runs crossed.

Binghamton ended up walking it off in the bottom of the 10th inning. A controversial hit by pitch loaded the bases and McIlwain plated the placed runner Cortes for a 5-4 victory.

Eastman pitched a quality start throwing six innings of three run ball. He walked four and struck out three.

Francisco Morales took two, allowing a run on a wild pitch. The righty notched five strikeouts.

Brian Marconi had the ninth and tenth. Although he allowed two hits and three walks, only one unearned run scored on his watch.
