SeaWolves Can't Complete Comeback vs Soles de Sonora

Orlando SeaWolves News Release

Orlando, FL - Playing with only 11 players, the Orlando SeaWolves played a close game through three quarters but were undone in the fourth quarter, as they conceded six unanswered second-half goals, falling to Soles de Sonora, 11-6.

After going down early, Rapha Tobias continued his scoring form by pulling the SeaWolves level just 30 seconds later. Soles went on to score two more in the quarter, but Tobias answered again in the second, pulling Orlando within one. That 3-2 scoreline would be the halftime score as well, as Rapha's goal was the only one in the quarter.

The second half started poorly for the SeaWolves as they conceded just two minutes in, but once again they battled back as Armando Tello notched a debut goal to keep it a one-goal game. After scoring, the defense began to get stretched as Sonora opened up a 5-3 lead towards the end of the quarter and continued that momentum into the fourth, eventually leading 10-3.

Orlando finally broke back through with five minutes left in the game as Tello notched his second of the game, assisted by goalkeeper Fernando Cortes, who was playing as a field player on the night. That was followed by Corey Adamson scoring a debut goal. Edwin Rojas, playing his first game of the season for Orlando, scored to cut the deficit, but Soles scored late to put the game to bed.

It was a career night for Rapha Tobias, who scored twice and assisted on three, but ultimately the performance came in a losing effort.

Next up, the SeaWolves will continue their road swing as they travel back up to Baltimore for the third time this season to take on the Blast on Friday, February 21st. Then they will play the next day in Harrisburg against the Heat. Friday's game will kick off at 7:35 p.m. while Saturday's will kick off at 7:05 p.m. Both will be televised online at masl.tv.
