SeaWolves Announce 2009 Field Staff

(Erie, PA) - The Detroit Tigers today announced their minor league field staff's for the 2009 season.

Tom Brookens returns in his second season as the SeaWolves manager. Brookens is entering his fifth season as a minor league manager in the Tigers organization. In four years as a manager, Brookens has compiled a 239-192 record and a .554 winning percentage. He is the 12th manager in SeaWolves history and becomes only the third to manage the 'Wolves in multiple seasons joining Kevin Bradshaw and Duffy Dyer as the only others to manage Erie in multiple seasons.

Brookens, a Chambersburg, PA native and current resident of Fayetteville, PA, guided the Tigers Class-A affiliate, West Michigan, to the 2007 MidWest League Championship and was tabbed MidWest League "Manager of the Year."

"We are very pleased to see Tom and the entire staff return in 2009," SeaWolves General Manager John Frey said, "After a slow start in 2008, the team responded to the staff and had a very exciting second half of the season."

"Tom was great with the players and fans and was always accommodating to our front office staff," Frey added, "His attitude towards the game and contributions to the community make him a very valuable asset to our club."

Glenn Adams returns to the 'Wolves for a third consecutive season and will serve as hitting coach while Ray Burris returns for his second season as the team's pitching coach. Chris McDonald also returns as the team's Athletic Trainer for the fourth consecutive season.

"It's always good when you see consistency at the minor league level with the field staff," Frey said, "We have a very good relationship with our field staff and I'm very happy to see Glenn, Ray and Chris all return ."
