Seattle Storm News Release

This Week's Opponents

Detroit: Ashley Robinson grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds in the first meeting with Detroit this season as the short-handed Storm lost 77-67 on July 28 at KeyArena. Lauren Jackson, Betty Lennox and Cisti Greenwalt left the game with injuries, while Janell Burse, Wendy Palmer and Shaunzinski Gortman were also unavailable. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak against Detroit and gave the Shock a narrow 6-5 edge in the all-time series.

San Antonio: After splitting a pair of meetings at KeyArena earlier this season, the Storm will look for a third consecutive season series win in their lone trip to the AT&T Center. The teams are knotted at 11 games apiece all-time. The Storm's average margin of victory, however, has been 22.1 points while the Silver Stars average win has been by just 7.4 points.

Houston: The Storm have dropped both meetings with the Comets this season and four straight against Houston including the 2005 WNBA Playoffs. In the last meeting, a 84-74 loss on June 25 in Houston, Betty Lennox's season-high 29 points were not enough to overcome a late surge by the Comets to put the game out of reach. The Storm are 1-11 all-time in Houston and 7-16 against the Comets overall.

Playoff Picture

Entering this week's play, the Storm have a magic number of one for securing the fourth playoff berth in franchise history. Any Seattle victory or Phoenix loss will put the Storm in the playoffs for the third consecutive season. Below is a look at the Western Conference playoff picture (the remaining schedules for Seattle, Phoenix and Houston are to the right):
