Calgary Stampeders News Release

(Calgary) – The Calgary Stampeder Football Club is pleased to announce that tonight, Thursday, June 17th at 7:00 pm (local time) Sportsnet will broadcast the season opener of Stamps TV. This 30-minute show will air on Sportsnet West once a week featuring a behind the scenes look at the team.

Stamps TV was developed and created to give CFL and in particular Stampeder fans a steady diet of the Canadian football culture. For the thousands out there who love the CFL game and the Red and White as passionately as we do, Stamps TV is here to deliver an in-depth, fun, exciting and cool look at YOUR team – its players and characters that make up the 2004 Stampeder roster. This show explores the lives of the athletes off the field, as well as giving you a taste of how they view the fast-paced game of Canadian Football, the country and city we call home. And when we talk about examining the culture, we're looking at everything from cleats to fashions to touchdown celebrations to the hottest tracks blowing up the airwaves. CFL football culture is a big part of the urban culture in which we all live. Be a part of history and share the Stampeder experience.

Respected sportscaster and entertainer Mike Lownsbrough brings his own unique style to the new 30-minute magazine show Stamps TV. Lownsbrough is well known to the Calgary sports culture after spending 18 years with Global Television (Calgary 7). Not only the "football guy" he also co-hosted the popular and at the time ground breaking half hour show known as Sports at 11. In a jam-packed half-hour the native of Carnduff, Saskatchewan, will deliver in-depth interviews and features with members of the Red and White, insightful thoughts on the game, plus features on the game you won't find anywhere else.

Joining Mike will be Christie Chorley. Christie is a fresh face with tremendous enthusiasm that will add to an already upbeat half-hour show. Christie has deep roots in the CFL working closely with the Edmonton Eskimos in their media relations department.
