February 13, 2007 - American Indoor Football Association (AIFA)
Lakeland ThunderBolts News Release
LAKELAND- With the end of Training Camp, the Lakeland ThunderBolts 30-man roster is set and the coaches can turn their focus to the season opener this Saturday, February 17, 2007 with the 2-0 Mississippi Mudcats. "The Mudcats with wins against the Pittsburgh River Rats and the Montgomery Bears, have had the opportunity to work out the kinks and make the necessary corrections, which gives them an advantage," said Head Coach Teddy Keaton.
This game is the battle of big brother versus little brother, teacher versus student. Mudcats head coach Brian Brents served under ThunderBolts head coach Teddy Keaton for 1 year, as his Offensive Coordinator, and working together for 2 more years in Odessa, TX.
"This is going to be a test for us. Coach Brents is coming out 2-0. We are both familiar with the other's coaching style," said Coach Keaton, "A lot of questions that need to be answered about how the season will go will be found during the first game. Winning or losing one game in professional football isn't the end of the world. Our season's a long one, this is a marathon, not a sprint."
