Florida Seals News Release
ORLANDO - The Orlando Seals got a little help from Atlantic Coast Hockey League rival Macon on Thursday night when the Trax defeated Knoxville 3-0, leaving Orlando in sole possession of the regular-season championship.
Heading into this week's slate of games, Orlando (39(2)-13) needed just one point in the standings or a Knoxville loss to clinch the inaugural Commissioner's Cup outright. The Seals play at Cape Fear tonight at 7:35. The game can be heard on www.irn.fm/sealsradio.htm.
Orlando had tied for the title last Sunday by defeating Winston-Salem 2-0, but if the second-place Knoxville Ice Bears had won all of their remaining games, the teams would have finished tied with 76 points apiece. The first tiebreak then would have gone to Knoxville (32(4)-21) with most overall wins.
Seals Return Home for March 6th Game
On Saturday, the Seals will travel to Jacksonville for a 2:30 p.m. matchup with the Barracudas. Please note that the game time has been changed. Orlando returns home to host Cape Fear at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 6.
