The Fisher Cats brought in the first run of the game in the top of the first inning against Sea Dogs starter Bryan Mata. John Aiello worked a one-out walk and Orelvis Martinez singled, putting runners on the corners. Trevor Schwecke doubled to left, scoring Aiello, giving New Hampshire a 1-0 lead.
New Hampshire added to their lead in the top of the sixth with Portland reliever Ryan Fernandez on the mound. Chris Bec reached base on a throwing error from David Hamilton and stole second base. Cam Eden hit a ground-rule double into the left-field corner, plating Bec, and expanding the Fisher Cats lead to 2-0.
Portland broke onto the scoreboard in the bottom of the seventh, scoring three runs against New Hampshire reliever Thomas Ruwe. David Hamilton was hit by a pitch to lead off, stole second, and advanced to third on a throwing error by catcher Chris Bec. Kole Cottam walked and Tyler Dearden drove in Hamilton with an RBI single, making it 2-1. Alex Binelas walked to load the bases and Ceddanne Rafaela hit an infield single, scoring Cottam, tying the game 2-2. With the bases still loaded, Christian Koss pushed in the final run of the inning with a walk, giving the Sea Dogs their first lead 3-2.
The Sea Dogs added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth inning against Fisher Cats reliever Jimmy Burnette. Hamilton led off with an infield single. He stole second base, his third steal of the game, and moved up to third on a fly ball from Cottam. Dearden grounded out to second base, scoring Hamilton, increasing Portland's lead to 4-2.
