Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release
HARTFORD, CT - For a second straight night, a three-run homer with two out in the fourth proved to be pivotal. This time it was Ronny Mauricio doing the honors as the Binghamton Rumble Ponies beat the Hartford Yard Goats 7-1 on Sunday night at Dunkin' Donuts Park. The Rumble Ponies won the last two games to split the series with Hartford (3-3, 46-29).
Binghamton (3-3, 31-44) got on the board first for a fifth straight game, as Hayden Senger hit an RBI single in the third to make it 1-0. A wild pitch to the next batter, Wyatt Young, drove home Carlos Cortes from third to give Binghamton a 2-0 lead.
In the fourth, a one out double by Zach Ashford was followed by a walk to Brandon McIlwain. Two batters later, Ronny Mauricio deposited a 3-1 pitch from Karl Kauffmann (5-4) into the second deck in right to make it 5-0 Ponies. It's Mauricio's 15th home run of the season and he now has a team-leading 53 RBI.
Jeremy Vasquez's RBI double in the seventh made it 6-1 Binghamton. It was Vasquez's second straight three-hit game.
Justin Lasko, pitching in his home state, was in command allowing one run on six hits over five innings with one walk and three strikeouts to earn the win (3-1). Hunter Parsons pitched three scoreless innings in relief with two walks and four strikeouts. Andrew Mitchell retired the side in order in the ninth to preserve the win.
Kauffmann allowed five runs on six hits over three and two third innings to take the loss.
