Batavia Muckdogs News Release
Batavia, NY - It came as no surprise to the Dwyer Stadium faithful when Monday night's game went into extra innings. It would only take one inning to decide a winner as Mahoning Valley came out on top 12-7.
The Muckdogs had many opportunities and looked as if they were going to run away with the game. The Scrappers lived up to their nickname, clawing back several times to tie, and finally leading in the tenth.
Tim Moss scored in the second inning to give Batavia a 1-0 lead, and the Muckdogs added two more runs in the third. Michael Bourn singled and was driven in by Jake Blalock who would also come around to score.
Ryan Mulhern blasted a home run in the fourth inning to cut the deficit to 3-1. It would be the first of many Scrappers home runs.
Flash ahead now to the top of the seventh inning, Mulhern singled as did Jonathan Van Every. A double by Anthony Lunetta would plate both Scrapper base runners.
Mahoning Valley also scored two in the top of the eighth to tie the game yet again at five runs apiece.
In Batavia's half of the inning, Omar Bramasco came up to the plate with Tim Moss standing on first base and sent a bomb over the left field fence to give Batavia a two run advantage, 7-5.
Lunetta reached base in the ninth on a fielder's choice and Brad Snyder singled. Mike Conroy doubled down the left field line to tie the game again, this time at seven.
In the tenth inning, with the bases loaded, Brad Snyder rocketed a ball over the center field fence to give the Scrappers a 12-7 lead. Ryan Goleski had scored earlier in the inning for Mahoning Valley.
Caleb McConnell (0-2) took the loss for the Muckdogs; the win went to Dan Rich. On the night for the Muckdogs, the bullpen was dreadful, allowing 11 runs in 4 innings.
The offense lit a spark for the Muckdogs. In addition to his home run, Omar Bramasco finished the game 2-4, with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored. Michael Bourn and Jake Blalock had 3 hits each and Javon Moran and Kiel Fisher chipped in 2 apiece.
Batavia returns home to face off against the Scrappers on Tuesday night, it is the conclusion of the 8 game homestand that has been going on at Dwyer Stadium.
