Syracuse, NY (July 22, 2004) â The Syracuse Crunch announced today that defenseman Darrel Scoville has exercised his player option for the 2004-05 season with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Scoville, 29, appeared in 70 games with Syracuse last season, recording 10 goals, 32 assists and 73 penalty minutes. In eight games with Columbus last season, Scoville recorded his first NHL point, an assist, February 28 vs. Colorado.
Scoville won the Calder Cup as a member of the Saint John Flames in 2000-01, scoring the cup-winning goal in a 1-0 Game Six win over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Scoville has one point (1a, 12 PIM's) in 16 career NHL games with Calgary and Columbus and has tallied 167 points (46g, 121a, 449 PIM's) in 346 career AHL games with Saint John and Syracuse. A native of Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Scoville was signed as a free agent by Columbus on July 10, 2001.
