'Crunch Into Reading' Returns

Syracuse, NY (July 22, 2004) – The Syracuse Crunch and the Onondaga County Public Library system announced today that the popular ‘Crunch Into Reading' program begins on August 2 at the NOPL @ North Syracuse and will include seven visits to Onondaga County Libraries through August 19.

‘Crunch Into Reading' is a program aimed to enhance the reading capabilities of youths and the use of library cards among children in grades K-6. At each of the appearances Al, the Crunch's ice gorilla mascot, and a Crunch staff member will read a number of hockey books to the children in attendance.

As part of the program any child, 14 and under, who uses their library card during the month of October at an Onondaga Public Library will receive a free ticket to a Crunch home game in November. Parents will receive a discounted ticket rate.

The following is a list of the libraries the ‘Crunch Into Reading' program will visit this summer:

Monday, August 2 -- 2 p.m. -- NOPL @ North Syracuse

Wednesday, August 4 -- 10:30 a.m. -- East Syracuse Library

Wednesday, August 4 -- 2 p.m. -- Paine Branch

Wednesday, August 11 -- 10 a.m. -- Fairmount Library

Thursday, August 12 -- 1:30 p.m. -- Baldwinsville Library

Wednesday, August 18 -- 10:30 a.m. -- Solvay Library

Thursday, August 19 -- 11 a.m. -- NOPL @ Brewerton

Season tickets for the 2004-05 season are now on sale and can be purchased by calling the Crunch office at (315) 473-4444 or by stopping by the Crunch office in the War Memorial at Oncenter.
