Scott Stewart Selected By Boston in NLL Expansion Draft

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Minnesota Swarm General Manager Marty O'Neill announced today that forward Scott Stewart was selected by Boston with the ninth overall pick in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) Expansion Draft.

Stewart, 28 (4/23/79), tallied 40 points (17-23=40) and 57 loose balls in 15 games with the Swarm in 2006-07. The 6-foot-1, 225-pound forward added an assist and four loose balls in Minnesota's playoff loss at Buffalo, his first career playoff appearance. The Hamilton, Ont. native has collected 220 points (109-111=220) and 394 loose balls in 83 career NLL contests during six seasons with New Jersey, Anaheim, Portland and Minnesota. Stewart was originally acquired by the Swarm from the Portland LumberJax in exchange for Ryder Bateman on Feb. 2, 2006.

The new Boston franchise selected one player from each of the thirteen other NLL franchises today and currently holds the top overall selection in the 2007 NLL Entry Draft, which will take place Sept. 1 at Pepsi Center in Denver, home of the NLL's Colorado Mammoth. The NLL Entry Draft features the best young lacrosse talent from the NCAA US college programs and Canada's junior lacrosse organizations.
