Rio Grande Valley Dorados News Release
Hidalgo, Texas --- The Rio Grande Valley Dorados, arenafootball2's defending Southwest Division champions, today announced that rookie OL/DL John Scott has earned the ADT Defensive Player of the Week Award for Week 9 of the af2 season.
A 6-foot-0, 300-pound rookie out of Jacksonville State, Scott had an outstanding performance in Saturday night's 53-36 home victory against Oklahoma City.
The rookie defensive lineman registered 4.5 tackles (3 solo, 3 asst), including 2.5 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks. Scott also forced two fumbles that Rio Grande Valley recovered for touchdowns. His play was a big reason why the Dorados recorded their second straight win which evened their season record at 4-4.
This is the first weekly af2 award of Scott's career. He currently ranks second on the team in tackles for loss (6.5) and sacks (3.0). The award is the second weekly honor for a Dorado this season. Eddie Jackson took home Cutters Catch of the Week honors in Week 6.
This Saturday, the Dorados travel to Lubbock to face the Renegades at 7 p.m. Listen to the game on KURV 710 or watch live at doradosfootball.com.
Dorados single game tickets are available at all TicketMaster outlets, including online (www.ticketmaster.com) and at the Dodge Arena Box Office.
