New Mexico Scorpions News Release
Three returning Scorpions connected to get New Mexico on the board first. Aaron MacInnis moved the puck ahead to Konrad Reeder from the defensive zone. Reeder sped towards the net, on the power play, and as he was falling down launched a shot that was initially saved. Chris Robertson followed quickly behind and shot the rebound into the net giving the Scorpions a 1-0 lead.
The Scorpions special teams extended the lead early in the third period. Ray Ortiz stuffed a loose puck into the net while the Scorps were shorthanded giving his team a 2-0 lead. Goalies Mike Minard and Andrew Martin played well in net combining for the 26 save performance.
The Scorpions open the season Friday, October 19 and Saturday, October 20 versus the Laredo Bucks. Mini-season ticket packages are on sale for as low as $63. When purchasing season ticket packages, each person receives special benefits that are exclusive only to our season ticket holders.
