Scorpions Unable To Pull It Off Against Sox

July 1, 2007 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Yuma Scorpions News Release

RENO, Nev. ? Chuck Sindlinger and Mike Done each had two hits for the Reno Silver Sox in a 4-3 victory over the visiting Yuma Scorpions on Saturday night at Peccole Park.

The loss was the ninth in the last 12 games for the Scorpions (13-10), during a season-high 15-game road trip.

Scorpions third baseman Henry Calderon drove in centerfielder Mike Goss twice, but an early 3-0 deficit was too much for the visitors to overcome.

Reno (8-13) got on the board first as Victor Hall and Sindlinder scored on singles by Jose Rodriguez and Carlos Madrid in the first inning. They scored a third run in the fourth inning as Done scored on a Kane Simmons RBI double.

The Silver Sox increased their late lead to 4-2 in the sixth inning as Done drove in Cody Nowlin on a double. Nowlin tripled to lead off the inning.

Yuma cut into the lead in the top of the ninth inning as Tank Peterson drove in Gabriel Mayorga on a sacrifice fly, but it wasn?t enough to steal a win from Reno for the second straight night.

The Scorpions stranded nine runners on base, but the Silver Sox left seven on themselves.

Marco Solis was given his second loss as he allowed three runs on five hits in 4 1/3 innings pitched. Reno's Matt Parris pitched seven innings, striking out five while allowing two runs on five hits to gain his second win of the season.

The two teams finish up their three-game series tonight at 5:05 p.m. at Peccole Park. You can listen live on www.yumascopions.com or tune into KBLU 560AM.
