San Antonio Scorpions News Release
KSAT 12 and MeTV are set to air 13 home games for the San Antonio Scorpions in their second season as part of the North American Soccer League, Scorpions President and GM Howard Cornfield announced today.
KSAT will air three primetime Scorpions home games including the 2013 home opener at new Toyota Field on April 13th, while the other 10 home games will air on KSAT 12.2 (MeTV). KSAT and MeTV will air additional home games in 2013 that will be announced at a later date.
"As the excitement of the Scorpions second season builds, this partnership with KSAT and Phil Lane will not only elevate soccer in our community to the next level, but also our cause; helping people and families with special needs, " said Cornfield. "We are so very grateful to Phil and KSAT for believing in Soccer for a Cause and the Scorpions."
KSAT12 can be seen in San Antonio on local channel 12, or on Time Warner Cable, Grande Communications, GVTC, Dish Network and DirecTV. MeTV is viewable on 12.2 or on Time Warner Cable, Grande Communications and GVTC.
"We're thrilled to bring the exploding world of soccer to our viewers, broadcasting NASL Soccer in prime time," said KSAT Vice President/General Manager, Phil Lane. "It's an exciting time for soccer in South Texas."
The television deal comes in anticipation of the opening of America's newest soccer specific stadium, Toyota Field to the expected capacity crowd. The Scorpions play their first NASL home game of 2013 in the 8,000 capacity state of the art venue on April 13th vs. the Tampa Bay Rowdies.
