SCORPIONS TICKETS AND EVENTS â
NO GAME TOMORROW â Just a reminder that there is no Scorpions game tomorrow. The game scheduled for tomorrow was played last Tuesday because of the Cher concert tonight at Tingley Coliseum. Anybody who still has tickets for tomorrow's game can redeem them at the Scorpions office for a later date.
GIVE BLOOD, PLAY HOCKEY WEEK â The week prior to the next Scorpions home games marks Give Blood, Play Hockey Week presented by New Mexico's WB. The Scorpions will be holding a blood drive on Tuesday, Feb. 22 from 3-6 p.m. at the team's offices. Each person who donates blood will receive a t-shirt and a coupon good for $4 off a grandstand ticket to the Feb. 26 game vs. Topeka. Scorpion players will be on hand to sign autographs. If you can't make it to the office there will be a blood drive at Tingley Coliseum on Feb. 26 from 3:30 p.m. until game time. Fans can also go to the United Blood Services Clinic to donate and get their coupon.
NEXT HOME GAMES â The Scorpions return home for three straight games â Friday, Feb. 25 and Saturday, Feb. 26 against Topeka at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 27 against Oklahoma City at 5:05 p.m. The Feb. 25 game against Topeka is the final Sonic Trading Card Night of the season to the first 1,000 fans. The Feb. 26 game against Topeka is ABC Seamless Clapper Night to the first 2,500 fans. Both the 26th and 27th are Comcast Family 4-Pack games (4 tickets, 4 hot dogs and 4 sodas for $44), and there will be the final Skate with the Scorpions after the Feb. 27 game.
TICKET AND TEAM STORE INFO â Tickets for all Scorpions home games start at $11 and can be purchased at the Scorpions Team Store, 6300 San Mateo NE in the Far North Shopping Center, at the Tingley Coliseum box office beginning two hours prior to game time, or at any TicketMaster outlet. Regular non game-day hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. On Tuesday through Friday game days it is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday game days from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Team Store will not be open prior to the game on Sunday, Feb. 27.
SCORPIONS RECAP â
LUBBOCK 3, SCORPIONS 2 (SO) â The Cotton Kings tied the game with 14.8 seconds to go in the third period and claimed the victory in a shootout on Tuesday in the Scorpions' annual School Day Game. Randy Murphy and Konrad McKay scored power play goals for the Scorpions, while Miguel Beaudry stopped 35 shots.
AMARILLO 3, SCORPIONS 2 â David Rattray broke a 2-2 tie in the third period as the Gorillas beat the Scorpions by a 3-2 score on Friday. Randy Murphy had a goal and an assist while Matt Weber also scored for the Scorpions. Miguel Beaudry made 28 saves in goal.
SCORPIONS 5, SAN ANGELO 2â The Scorpions ended a five-game winless streak with a 5-2 victory over the Saints on Saturday, the first time in five games between the teams this season decided in regulation. Randy Murphy had his eighth two-goal game of the season while Andrew Katzberg, Jordan Bianchin and Vladimir Hartinger also scored.
SCORPIONS MATCH-UPS â
BOSSIER-SHREVEPORT â The Scorpions topped the Mudbugs 5-1 on Dec. 4 at Tingley Coliseum and Friday marks their only visit of the season to the CenturyTel Center. The Mudbugs have won four in a row overall and 11 straight at home dating back to mid-December. Agitator extraordinaire Dan Wildfong leads the Mudbugs in scoring with 52 points (25g-27a). Bossier-Shreveport is tied for fourth in the CHL allowing 2.65 goals per game. Goalie Ken Carroll (18-5-1) is tied for second with a 2.22 GAA. The Mudbugs play in Topeka tomorrow before returning home to battle the Scorps.
FORT WORTH â The Brahmas took a 3-1 win from the Scorpions at Tingley Coliseum on Jan. 21. Fort Worth split a pair of games in Topeka over the weekend and is currently two points behind Tulsa for the final Northern Conference playoff spot. Chad Woollard (26g-26a-52pts) and Martin Paquet (20g-32a-52pts) are tied for the team lead and both are in the top 20 in the league in points. Dan Murphy (16-11-3) is tied for seventh in the CHL with a 2.68 GAA.
AUSTIN â Sunday's meeting in the Texas capital is the only meeting this season between the Scorpions and Ice Bats. All-Star John McNabb leads the Ice Bats in scoring and is tied for fifth in the league with 59 points (29g-30a), and is followed by ex-Scorpion Chris Richards (14g-39a-53pts). Goalie Matt Barnes (18-10-2, 2.71 GAA) sees the bulk of the action in goal for the Ice Bats. Dallas Anderson is second in the CHL with 267 penalty minutes.

SCORPS QUIET AT TRADE DEADLINE â The Scorpions were quiet at the CHL trade deadline, which passed earlier today at 2 p.m. MST.
STINGERS â Randy Murphy became the third player in Scorpions history to score 100 goals when he scored twice on Saturday against San Angelo to give him 101 in a New Mexico uniform... He trails only Peter Ambroziak (162) and Sylvain Naud (134)... He also has scored in four straight games and is fourth in the CHL with 28 goals... He is seventh with 56 points... Andrew Katzberg has recorded a penalty in 13 straight games... The Scorpions outshot San Angelo 32-31 on Saturday, and are now 8-2-0 this season when they outshoot their opponent.
