Oakley CHL Player & Goaltender of the Week Announced

Memphis forward Travis Banga and Lubbock netminder Lance Leslie have been selected as the recipients of the Oakley Player and Goaltender of the Week awards for Week 16 of the Central Hockey League season. Both players led their clubs to perfect 3-0-0 records this week, with Banga recording multiple points in all three wins, and Leslie allowing a total of four goals against in the three victories.
The Memphis RiverKings won three straight road contests against Southern Conference opponents this week, with Banga playing a key role in each win. He scored and added an assist in a 5-1 win at San Angelo on February 1st, registered two assists in a 6-4 win in Austin on February 4th, then exploded for a hat-trick and two more assists in a 6-4 win at Odessa the following night. His three outings give him a total of 10 multiple point games this season, including four in his last six contests. The first year pro played four years of NCAA hockey, splitting time between the University of New Hampshire and New England College.
CHL All-Star Leslie continues to enjoy a quality season for the Cotton Kings, and posted wins over New Mexico, Odessa and Amarillo to maintain Lubbocks slim first-place lead in the Southwest Division. He made 28 saves in a 3-2 shootout win at New Mexico on February 1st, then earned his third shutout of the season by making 35 saves in a 2-0 win at Odessa on February 4th. The following evening he turned aside 38 shots on home ice to help defeat Amarillo 3-2 (SO). Leslie currently ranks 5th in the CHL with a 2.29 goals against average, and second in the CHL with a .928 save percentage.
