Yuma Scorpions News Release

(Yuma, AZ) - The Yuma Scorpions announced today that they are asking fans to help set a new mark in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most whoopee cushions used simultaneously. The event will take place at the Scorpions' July 2nd matchup with the Japan Samurai Bears at Desert Sun Stadium at 7:05PM. The first 4000 fans through the gates will be given a free whoopee cushion, and will be asked to hang onto them until they are given further instruction during the game. The Scorpions are attempting to break the current whoopee cushion record set last year by the Quad City Mallards, when the United Hockey League franchise had 3614 fans use their whoopee cushions simultaneously during a hockey game in Moline, Illinois. "We've been making our own kind of history all season long," said Scorpions' General Manager Pat Brown. "This is a great way for the best fans in the GBL to become known all over the world! We already expect a great crowd for our Country Club Motors Independence Day Celebration. Now we hope even more will come out to be part of history."

The July 2nd game is the final piece of Scorpions' Country Club Motors All-American Weekend as the Scorpions take on the Japan Samurai Bears. Thursday, June 30th, the first 1000 fans through the gates receive a free Scorpions' baseball-courtesy of Country Club Motors, NewsChannel 11, The Sun Newspaper, and FM 95.1 KTTI. Friday night, July 1st, the patriotic touring act, "The American Eagle" will come to Desert Sun Stadium. And after the Scorpions and their fans make history Saturday, July 2nd, they'll get to enjoy a spectacular fireworks display above Desert Sun Stadium immediately following the game. First pitch for all three games is 7:05PM. Ticket information can be obtained by stopping by the Scorpions' Ticket Office at Desert Sun Stadium (between 9AM and 6PM weekdays), calling the Scorpions' Ticket Office at 726-9149, or logging on to yumascorpions.com and clicking on the ‘Single Game Tickets' link.
