Mesa Miners News Release

MESA, ARIZONA - The Mesa Miners have partnered up with the "Packages from Home" program to celebrate Independence Day and help our troops overseas.

The "Packages from Home" program is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to helping our men and women in the military by providing them with many items such as non-perishable food, personal toiletries, books, CD's, and DVD's. All items are donated by local citizens to the organization who then sends them out to the U.S. servicemen and servicewomen overseas.

On July 4, any fan that brings a non-perishable item to the Mesa Miners game at HoHoKam Park will receive $4.00 off any priced ticket. All the items donated by the fans will be collected by "Packages from Home" to be shipped to our troops.

"We are truly honored to be part of such a terrific organization like the Packages from Home program" said Miners general manager Becky Thielen. "Our fans will have the opportunity to help support our troops, watch some Miners baseball, and see a post-game fireworks show all on Independence Day."

In addition to the fireworks extravaganza, all fans entering the game will receive a free American flag courtesy of ABC Plumbing & Rooter Co., Inc. For those wanting to find out more on the "Packages from Home" program, their website at www.packagesfromhome.org provides detailed information on donation needs, donation centers, and how to volunteer.
