May 21, 2011 - North American League (NAmL)
Yuma Scorpions News Release
If you like offense tonight's game this is for you. The Scorpions fell behind early giving up 5 runs in the top of the first. Yuma answered with two runs of their own on a home run by Luis Ugueto in the bottom half of the frame to cut the Fielders lead to 5-2. After Lake County scored one in the top of the second to make it 6-2 the Scorpions offense exploded for 6 runs in the bottom of the second including a big 3 run homer for Jose Canseco, his second in three days. But the Scorpion bats fell silent after that as the Fielders pitching staff settled down allowing only no runs in the final 7 innings.
The bright spots for the Scorpions pitching staff were Eric Stolp and Rob Roth who combined to go three innings giving up only one run. The other Scorpions pitch-ers struggled giving up a combined 12 runs in the other 6 innings. The Scorpions dropped their final exhibition game with the Lake County Fielders 13-8. Now it's time to look ahead to opening day, Tuesday May 24th, at Desert Sun Stadium with a double header against the Calgary Vipers. Gates will open at 4:35p with a game time of 5:35p.
