Yuma Scorpions News Release

Following a loss last night to the Lake County Fielders in the opening exhibi-tion game of the 2011 season, the Scorpions bounced back with a big win tonight 10-6 over the Fielders. Switch hitting third baseman, Juan Camacho, led the way offensively with a huge 6 RBI night. Camacho started the scoring off in the bottom of the 1st with a Grand Slam home run over the left field fence. He then added a two run single in the 2nd scoring not just one, but both Canseco brothers. Jose Canseco followed up a big night yesterday, where he hit a long home run, with a 1 for 2 night with a single, walk, flyout and scored two runs.

The Scorpions also had some very promising pitching performances. Danny Rondon, Andrew Romo and James Hoyt combined to go 6 innings giving up only 1 run. Antony Bello went one strong giving up only 1 run. Jacob Wiley pitched a scoreless eighth and Julio Santana had a rough ninth inning giving up 4 runs. The Scorpions look to keep up the good play tomorrow night in their final exhibition matchup against the Lake County Fielders, game time 7:30pm, at Desert Sun Stadium in Yuma, AZ. The Scorpions open up the season Tuesday, May 24th with a double header at home against the Calgary Vipers.
