
Scoring Drought Continutes, Jets Sweep Ice Miners

CONNELLSVILLE, PA - The Ice Miners continuted to struggle on home ice Saturday night, dropping a 2-1 game to the Janesville Jets, who have now win 7 of their last 8. All three goals were powerplay tallies and came in the first two periods, as Keystone fell below .500 (7-8-2) for the first time since mid-September.
The Ice Miners game up the game's first goal for the fourth consecutive game when Brandon Schultz netted a powerplay marker at 12:58 of the opening period, banking the puck off of an Ice Miners defenseman and behind goaltender Nick Kossofff. The Jets led 1-0 after the first period.
Keystone, who have a made a habit of scoring early in periods, tied the game at the :39 second mark of the 2nd period as Scott Donahue put home his fourth of the season on the powerplay, with helpers from Alex Archibald and Jon Hall. Later in the frame, the Ice Miners found themselves down two men and Schultz found his 2nd of the game at 13:17 for a 2-1 Jets lead.
The Ice Miners could not find the equalizer against Janesville netminder Matt Juruzik in the 3rd period and the game ended, 2-1. Jurzik made 23 saves for his 11th win. The Jets extended their North Division lead as Soo fell in a shootout to Springfield.
Keystone will complete their five game homestand with a pair of games against the Soo Eagles on Saturday, November 15th and Sunday, November 16th at 7:30 and 1:00, respectively.
