Fresno Grizzlies News Release

Fresno, CA- In efforts to maximize donations made to Fresno Unified School District, the Grizzlies and FUSD are pleased to announce that the Score for Schools program has been extended through May 15. Originally, the program's fundraising phase was to last until March 30. The extension gives Fresno students another month and a half to raise money for their schools.

Also, the vouchers sold through Score for Schools will now be redeemable for all Fuego soccer games and regular season Falcons hockey games in addition to Grizzlies baseball games. Those wishing to redeem their vouchers for Grizzlies or Fuego games can do so at the Chukchansi Park ticket office. To redeem vouchers for remaining regular season Falcons games, please visit the SaveMart Center ticket office.

Score for Schools was announced in February as a major fundraising partnership between the Grizzlies and Fresno Unified School District. Beginning on March 1, students from Kindergarten through 12th grade have had the opportunity to sell Fresno Grizzlies' ticket vouchers, each good for one ticket to a baseball game (now including soccer and hockey games) this summer. The cost of each voucher is $10, and $5 of each voucher sold goes back to each school site. All schools within the district will be able to appropriate their own funds, allowing them to use the money they have raised for programs and supplies they themselves deem most worthy. Initially, the Grizzlies planned on celebrating Score for Schools by announcing the total contributions back to the schools in a check presentation prior to the Grizzlies home game on Friday, May 4. This ceremony has been rescheduled and will now take place prior to the game on Wednesday, May 30.

As both organizations see this as a perennial fundraiser for the district's 70,000 plus students, Score for Schools will resurface in the fall for its second go round benefiting the children of Fresno Unified.
