
Schmidt Stops Roadrunners

EDINBURG, Texas - Dan Schmidt pitched a complete game leading the Alexandria Aces to a 12-1 victory over the Edinburg Roadrunners Wednesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
The Aces (12-14) got the scoring started in the top of the third with a three-run home run by Nick Mahin, his third of the season, making it 3-0.
In the top of the fourth, Alexandria extended their lead on Chad Bunting's two-run home run to left field pushing their lead to 5-0.
The Aces added two more runs in the top of the fifth. With runners at second and third, Austin Newell hit a sacrifice fly to right field that allowed Michael Haynes to score. Derrick Pyles then followed with an RBI single scoring Mahin from third making it 7-0.
Alexandria batted around in the top of the seventh scoring five runs on five hits to extend their lead 12-0.
The Roadrunners (12-14) got their run in the bottom of the ninth when Bunyu Maeda hit an RBI double down the left field line driving in Ryde Rodriguez from first making the score 12-1.
Kasuma Isabachi (0-1) took the loss for Edinburg after allowing seven runs in four innings of work and striking out four.
Schmidt (3-0) picked up his third victory of the season after allowing that one run and striking out two.
The Roadrunners and Aces will play the third game of their four-game series on Wednesday night with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 pm.
Thursday's game will be Thirsty Thursday where alcohol beverages will be on special and it will be Pueblo Tires Customer Appreciation Night.
