Alexandria Aces News Release
EDINBURG- Dan Schmidt threw a complete game 7-hitter while Nick Mahin and Chad Bunting both hit home runs to lead the Alexandria Aces to a 12-1 victory against the Edinburg Roadrunners.
Mahin's homer, his third of the season, came with two men on off Kasuma Isabachi in the third to give Alexandria a 3-0 lead. Bunting followed with a 2-run shot to almost the same location in left field the next inning off Isabachi (0-1) to start the rout. It was the former California Golden Bear's first homer as an Ace.
Meanwhile, Schmidt (3-0), a lefthander from Perth, Australia, pitched the first nine inning complete game for the Aces (12-14) this season. He did not walk a batter and struck out two while scattering seven hits.
The Roadrunners (12-14) did not score until Bunyu Maeda hit a two out double down the third base line in the bottom of the ninth to score Ryde Rodriguez from first base.
Mahin had three hits, three runs, and drove in three runs for Alexandria. Derrick Pyles added three hits, two runs, and two RBIs, and Bunting had two hits, two runs, and three RBIs.
The Roadrunners host the Aces in the third game of the series Thursday night at 7:05 p.m.
