Saucedo Leads Golden Eagles to Win

July 28, 2012 - Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL)
Glens Falls Dragons News Release

The Golden Eagles returned home and took a much-needed game away from the Oneonta Outlaws with a 12-5. Their offensive power was a big impact throughout the game but that wasn't the highlight of the night.

Tayler Saucedo (Tacoma Community College) worked through six and two thirds innings giving up only three earned while managing to strike out ten in the game, the most in a single outing this season. With his performance, he moves to 4-3 on the season and hold the team lead in strikeouts with 45.

The Golden Eagles offense also rose to the occasion compiling thirteen hits and twelve runs through six innings. They began the game with two back-to-back innings scoring two runs in each while keeping the Outlaws scoreless. Oneonta struck back in the third with three runs of their own thanks to some timely hits and miscues from the Golden Eagles, but that was as close as they would get.

In the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings, Saucedo sat down nine consecutive Outlaws while the Golden Eagles offense managed push across eight while batting around the order in the sixth.

Jake Doller (Kansas State) came in relief at the end of the seventh for Saucedo and surrendered two runs in the eighth off of a triple, a ground out, a double, and a single from the core of the Outlaw lineup. Ryan Skoubo (Tacoma Community College) came in and finished the game one, two, three with some help from his defense.

With the win the Golden Eagles move to 24-20 while the Outlaws fall to 22-21. Oneonta is now a half game out of fourth in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League and Glens Falls holds in third.
