Saturday\'s Scrimmage Goes Great
April 24, 2004 - Intense Football League (Intense)
Lubbock GunSlingers News Release
The Lubbock Lone Stars threw on the pads and helmets Saturday for a little intra-squad scrimmage. George Godsey led one team while fellow quarterback Tommy Miller led the other. Godsey's team came out the unofficial winner. His team finished up with 17 points while Millers team scored only a field goal.
Overall Coach Buck said he was pleased with the practice, but the team has a lot to learn before next weeks opening game in Amarillo. Now Buck has the unenviable task of trying to cut almost a dozen players before next weeks practices begin. League rules permit 19 roster players and 2 on the practice squad.
Several players made it tougher on coach by putting up great number. Joseph Koroma, George Godsey, and Anthony Dalton all made great plays and put up some monster stats. Koroma finished the day with 130 yards on 9 receptions and two scores to lead all recievers.
Godsey also put up some big numbers completing 16 of his 21 passes for 182 yards. He also threw for 2 touchdowns and 1 interception.
Defensively for the Stars, it was speedster Anthony Dalton coming up with a pick and several big tackles, including one for a loss.
