Aberdeen Wings News Release
Saturday night as the Aberdeen Wings take on rival Bismarck, former Wings player Brenden Gust will be the special guest. Gust played 54 games for the Aberdeen Wings in the inaugural season of 2010-2011. While playing for the El Paso Rhinos of the NA3HL, he was injured and required surgery. In a routine pre-operation examination, he was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia. He started his chemotherapy treatment on June 18th which will continue for several years. The financial hardship has effected the Gust family deeply, as this is the 2nd cancer diagnosis within the family.
Saturday night, the Wings organization will auction off one #26 Gust replica jersey with proceeds going to the family. There will also be donation buckets located in various areas of the arena. Brenden Gust will also be our special guest for evening, and we welcome him and his family back to 'The Odde'.
