Saskatchewan Rattlers and Scarborough Shooting Stars Both Looking to Rebound on Sunday Night
June 4, 2023 - Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL)
Saskatchewan Rattlers News Release
The Saskatchewan Rattlers (+106) will look to salvage their two-game weekend road trip in a Sunday night matchup against the Scarborough Shooting Stars (-143) at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre at 7:00 pm ET.
The game will be available for streaming on TSN+, CEBL+ powered by BetVictor, and on the CEBL Mobile app available on iOS and Android devices.
After dismantling the Vancouver Bandits 109-85 to open their season on May 31, the Rattlers were thumped by 42 points in a loss to the Niagara River Lions last night.
Turnovers were a major issue for Saskatchewan in the loss, as Niagara scored 33 points off 21 turnovers.
Justin Wright-Foreman was the bright spot for Saskatchewan on the night.
Wright-Foreman, a former Utah Jazz draft pick who collected 23 points and 8 assists in his CEBL debut on Wednesday, shot over 50 percent from the field and totalled 21 points in the loss.
The Shooting Stars are also coming into tonight's contest following a loss.
Winnipeg's Teddy Allen dropped 42 points - tying the single-game record for most points scored in a CEBL game - against his former team on Friday night, as the Sea Bears downed Scarborough 98-93 at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre.
The Rattlers will be looking to contain the dynamic Scarborough backcourt of Cat Barber and Jalen Harris, who combined for nearly 50 points in Scarborough's last loss.
Barber, who is currently tied with Brampton's Christian Vital for the league lead in points per game at 25.7, is also second in the league in assists, tallying just over six per game. His backcourt running mate, meanwhile, is averaging over 21 points and five rebounds per game this year.
In order to match the offence of Barber and Harris, the Rattlers will need to have bounce back performances from Jermel Kennedy and Drake Jefferies. After scoring 22 and 14 points respectively in the season opener, the two starters scored just a total of five points last night and shot a combined 1-12 for the field.
Sixth man Michael Nuga has been a spark off the bench for Saskatchewan this year, as the UNLV guard has recorded 20 and 12 points in each of the Rattlers' first two games.
This will be the first of two meetings for the Shooting Stars and Rattlers this season, as the two teams will lock horns again on June 25 in Saskatchewan.
