Rico Santana had a good night, and he needed only one inning to do it.
Santana hit two RBI singles in a 15-batter, fourth-inning rampage. The RiverHawks scored nine times and went on to a 15-2 win over the Richmond Roosters at Marinelli Field.
Santana was 3-for-6. Dan Floyd was 4-for-4 with two RBI and Ben Fjelland was 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI. The RiverHawks matched their season high with 18 hits.
Fjelland singled home a two-out run in the second inning to break a scoreless tie and Rich Austin doubled the lead with a second-inning RBI single.
In Fjelland's second at-bat, he doubled home the first of the nine fourth-inning runs and knocked out starter Darren Heinrichs (0-1). The âHawks led 11-0 after four.
Scott Sobkowiak (2-1) pitched six innings for the win. Joe Barbosa pitched the final three innings for his first save.
The RiverHawks go for a sweep of the three-game series at 7:05 p.m. on Thirsty Thursday. Miller Lite and Lorden Distributing sponsor Dollar Beer Night.
