LOS ANGELES, CA - The Santa Cruz Warriors (5-1) fell to the Ontario Clippers (6-2), 123-99, on Monday afternoon at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, CA.
Forward Jackson Rowe led the Warriors with 19 points and added four rebounds. On assignment from Golden State, forward Trayce Jackson-Davis scored 18 points and two-way guard Lester Quinones added 12 points, six rebounds and five assists to the loss.
Two-way forward Moussa Diabate led the Clippers with a double-double, notching 28 points and 10 rebounds. Two-way guard Xavier Moon posted 20 points and seven assists and forward Joey Hauser added 16 points and six rebounds off the bench.
The game stayed competitive throughout the first quarter with five lead changes and five ties, but the Warriors were able to take a slim lead, closing out the quarter with a 28-27 advantage over the Clippers. Ontario's offense fought back in the second quarter, ultimately building to an 11-point lead. The Warriors allowed 20 points off of 14 turnovers in the first half and trailed Ontario at the break, 60-53.
The Clippers came out strong in the third quarter, leading the Warriors by as many as 20 points. The Sea Dubs trailed the Clippers throughout the third quarter and headed into the final frame down 95-78. Ontario saw a 26-point lead in the fourth quarter and handed the Warriors their first loss of the season, 123-99.
