Santa Claus to appear at Frawley Stadium

NORTH POLE - Santa Claus is coming... to Frawley Stadium. The Wilmington Blue Rocks are proud to announce that jolly ol' St. Nick will be returning to Frawley on Saturday, December 6, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Santa has agreed to once again help the Blue Rocks collect gifts for the Second Annual Blue Rocks Holiday Gift Drive. The Drive kicks off Monday, December 1 and runs through December 19. You can drop off your gifts during normal business hours, and during our extended collection hours on Saturday, December 6. So, you'd better watch out, you'd better not cry, you'd better get out to Frawley and donate gifts!

The Blue Rocks will be opening The Quarry Souvenir Store on Saturday, December 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for donations to the gift drive. No need to bring a camera because the Blue Rocks will take your picture with Santa and e-mail it to you. Santa's favorite blue moose, Rocky Bluewinkle, will be on hand as well. Stadium tours will also be available and fans will have chances to win cool Blue Rocks stuff.

The Blue Rocks Holiday Gift Drive benefits the Mary Campbell Center's Children and Youth Program. The Mary Campbell Center is a community of persons with disabilities, along with the staff and volunteers who assist them each day. The Children and Youth Program offers unique activities for children with special needs, ages 3-21, and their families. The main focus of the program is to improve the social and recreational skills of the participants through play, while promoting independence, self-esteem and growth. It strives to promote positive peer interaction, physical development, creative expression, problem solving and teamwork.

Collected gifts will go to teenagers of the Children and Youth program. Below are some examples of the current interests of these children. Feel free to pick up these gifts or something similar. The gifts can be slightly used or new. Any and all gifts collected will be graciously accepted.
