NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - The Sanford Mainers traveled to Joe Wolfe Field on Tuesday to take on the North Adams SteepleCats in the wild card round of the NECBL North Division playoffs. After North Adams jumped out to an early lead, the Sanford season ended after a 5-2 loss.

The Mainers offense mustered five hits in the contest, but were unable to string them together and left eight runners on base. The lone runs came in the eighth inning when Freddy Rojas Jr. (UT-Rio Grande Valley) hit a sacrifice fly to score Cal Hewett (Vanderbilt), and Mitch Moralez (Utah Valley) scored on an error off the bat of Dom Freeberger (UNC-Asheville).

Trevor LaBonte (Maine) struck out one with no hits, Brian Craven (Davidson) struck out one over two innings with one hit and Joe Joe Rodriguez (St. John's) struck out two in one inning of work.
Other Mainers in the hit column in the game included Derek Smith (Bryant) with a hit in the seventh inning, Dayne Leonard (West Virginia) in the fifth inning and Jonny Barditch (Utah) with a single in the ninth.
