Sanford Mainers News Release

SANFORD - New England Collegiate Baseball League Commissioner, Sean McGrath, has released the league's 2022 schedule. This year features 44 games, compared to last season's 42-game schedule.

The Sanford Mainers open their 21st season on Tuesday, June 7 at home against North Division rival the Upper Valley Nighthawks.

The Mainers will not have to wait long before facing the reigning NECBL champion Danbury Westerners, as they square off on the second day of the season on June 8 at Rogers Park in Danbury.

Also on the schedule is a home-and-home doubleheader with the Vermont Mountaineers. The Moose will host Vermont on June 11, with game one set to begin at 4 p.m. and game two following the conclusion. Then on July 17, the two will face each other for another doubleheader in Montpelier.

Returning to the field this summer will be games against all 13 NECBL teams in all six New England states, following 2021's season of divisional-only play.

In 2022, fans will see a new three-division realignment, featuring the newly minted Coastal Division, along with the North, and West divisions. The Mainers will remain in the North, alongside the Keene Swamp Bats, Upper Valley Nighthawks, Vermont Mountaineers and Winnipesaukee Muskrats.

Goodall Park will host all 22 Sanford Mainers' home games, with the first pitch coming at 6:30 p.m., with the exception of Sunday home games which will feature a 4:30 p.m. start.

The 2022 NECBL All-Star Game is set for Sunday, July 24, in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts, home of the Martha's Vineyard Sharks.

The regular season finale for the Mainers is on the road at Vermont on July 30, while the final home game is on Thursday June 28 against Keene. The NECBL postseason will commence on Monday, August 1.
