January 11, 2016 - Champions Indoor Football (CIF)
San Angelo Bandits News Release
The Champions Indoor Football (CIF) team owners and head coaches spent this past weekend in Wichita, KS for the preseason meetings. At this meeting it was decided that Randy Sanders of San Angelo, TX will act as the interim league commissioner for the 2016 season. The previous league commissioner, Darlene Jones had to step down from this position for health reasons.
Randy Sanders stated that " It a true honor to serve my CIF partners in this capacity and I hope to do as good a job as Darlene has done."
The entire ownership group expressed their appreciation to Darlene for her hard work making this a great professional indoor football league. We have decided to award the "DARLENE JONES FRANCHISE OF THE YEAR AWARD" for the best operated franchise of the year. The first award will be given to the Dodge City Law.
Ricky Bertz of the Dodge City Law has been serving as acting commissioner and has done a great job but needs to focus on his own team sales and upcoming season. The CIF moves into its second season with 12 teams (six in the north and six in the south) and has two more teams waiting to join in 2017. The CIF ownership group has decided to cap the membership at 16 this next season and continue to have a strong ownership group.
