Dallas Marshals News Release
MESQUITE, Texas - Mesquite is known for a lot of fun things: rodeo, food, family events, music and now something more: Real. Texas. Football. The Mesquite Marshals, a new professional indoor football team, has made Mesquite Arena its home and is representing the area in the Southern Division of the Champions Indoor Football (CIF) League. The Mesquite Marshals are pleased to announce the team's games will be televised on KDAF-TV CW 33.
"We are very excited to be carrying the Mesquite Marshals this year," said CW33 General Manager Jamie Aitken. "We all know football is king in Texas. When you pack that energy into an indoor arena, you've got high-scoring, family-friendly entertainment. And nobody does it better than Doug Bland and the Mesquite Arena organization. We're proud to be the Marshals' television partner and can't wait for kick-off on Feb. 20."
"We are thrilled to have a broadcast partner like CW33, a TV partner gives us the ability to expand our fan base to the entire DFW market," said Doug Bland, general manager of Mesquite Marshals. "Once football fans get a chance to see how intense our games are, I am confident that viewership and live attendance will grow each week. This kind of live sports programming is essentially 'DVR-proof.'"
The Mesquite Marshals are ushering a football revolution into North Texas, where the thrill of football can be had during any climate because of the indoor play. Fans can cheer on the Marshals in 13 regular-season games, seven of which will be played at home in Mesquite Arena, and -- hopefully -- in three divisional play-off, southern championships and national championship games. The CIF league's season starts Saturday, Feb. 20, and runs through June 25, when the CIF Champions Bowl will be held to determine the national winning team.
The Marshals begin their season against the DFW Hawks at home on Feb. 20. Tickets are $12-25 they are available at the door, by calling 972-285-8777, or online at Ticketmaster at http://www.ticketmaster.com/Resistol-Arena-tickets-Mesquite/venue/98323?brand=mesquiterodeo.

The indoor football experience is something for the whole family, as it combines the fast-paced nature of football with a comfortable indoor environment, family-friendly ticket pricing, a high-energy environment, and even the Mesquite Marshals' own dance team, the Marshals Darling Deputies lead by Ms. Maya Hayes a former Dallas Cowboy cheerleader and Dallas Mavericks dancer, which entertains the crowd as it cheers on Mesquite's hometown team.
Arena football is an exciting new sport for fans of the gridiron. CIF league rules specify that the game is played on a field 50 yards long by 28 yards wide, with end zones eight yards deep. Goal posts are ten feet wide and ten feet off the ground, typically suspended from the ceiling. Each team can have eight players on the field at a time, and 22 active players for each game. The game is played in four quarters of 15 minutes each. The clock does not stop for incomplete passes, out-of-bounds plays or first downs, unless it's within the final 90 seconds of either half -- making for an action-packed, fun and high-energy game.
