
San Jose Sharks Re-Sign Free Agent Forward Torrey Mitchell

SAN JOSE - San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the team has re-signed Group II restricted free agent forward Torrey Mitchell to a three-year contract. In keeping with club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Mitchell, 24, missed the 2008-09 NHL season due to a broken leg. He played in four games of 2009 Western Conference Quarterfinals versus Anaheim.
In 82 NHL games with San Jose, Mitchell has posted 20 points (10 goals, 10 assists) and 50 penalty minutes. In 17 Stanley Cup Playoff games, he has notched three points (one goal, two assists) and tallied 12 penalty minutes. He was selected as the 2008 Playstation "Sharks Rookie of the Year."
The Greenfield Park, Quebec native was originally selected by San Jose in the fourth round (126th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
