September 1, 2009 - American Hockey League (AHL) News Release
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... American Hockey League President and CEO David Andrews announced today that Bill Scott has been promoted to the position of Director of Hockey Operations.
Scott is entering his fourth season with the AHL in 2009-10. A native of Unionville, Ont., and a graduate of Michigan State University, Scott will continue to assist Rod Pasma, the AHL's new Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations, in the day-to-day management of all aspects of the department.
In addition to those duties, Scott will take a more active role with the President and CEO in collective bargaining preparation and in the execution of a number of initiatives and events which directly involve AHL team operations.
In operation since 1936, the AHL continues to serve as the top development league for the players, coaches, managers, executives and broadcasters of all 30 National Hockey League teams. More than 84 percent of today's NHL players are American Hockey League graduates, and for the eighth year in a row, more than 6 million fans attended AHL games across North America in 2008-09. The AHL's 74th season gets under way on Oct. 2.
